Chennai Corporation Begins To Tweet

Chennai government has come up with a simple solution of creating an ID-chennaicorp-in a microblogging site Twitter which is used by a wide range of users all over the world .Chennai government has come up with this idea in order to communicate with the online community in a cost effective manner

Anybody, who has an account in Tweeter, can follow chennai-corp and get regular updates in the form of tweets .If their mobile numbers are given in Twitter then they can receive updates as a SMS

You can also become a follower and reply to chenaicorp tweets and the civic body will respond to your queries . The first tweet that has been put up by the corporation was "Pay your tax using your mobile phone." A link has also been posted to the civic body's website in Tweeter. (http://www.chennaicorporation.gov.in)

A widget will be created on the corporation website that will link the user to Twitter. The widget will have option for both replying to the tweets as well as contacting the civic body. The officials said that Twitter would also be used as an effective tool to pass on information about new schemes and facilities to the tweeting world
