Its been a while since Google Search results started showing PDF files and indexing PDF files. It also gives you an option to convert your PDFs into HTML or text. But when you have to actually view the PDF, it opens up in Acrobat Reader.

Google search introduced a new feature where users can view the PDF from within their browsers.

A new "Quick View" option has been added to some PDFs in search results. When a user clicks on the link, the full PDF file is displayed in the browser with all its formatting intact. The viewer is based on the same service built into Gmail and Google Docs.

So now you can see the PDFs without having PDF reader..
