If you don't know what is Bing, Bing is a new search engine launched by Microsoft. The new search engine from Microsoft brings guided search assistance on the left and the different experiences for the travel, images, video, maps, news, and shopping tabs. I must say that the new and improved search engine is indeed a complete makeover of Microsoft's Live Search.

Everything that was Microsoft Live is now Bing. Bing Maps instead of Live Maps, Mobile Bing (m.bing.com) etc. One of the best feature of Bing is the travel flight search and travel flight price predictions. I was really impressed with that one.

But that's not why I am writing this post.

Actually after the bing launch, IE6 users reported that their Bing is overriding the default search provider set by users of Internet Explorer 6. Several IE6 users have complained that since Bing launched, the search provided went from Google (which they set manually) to Bing. To makes things even worse, when the user tries to set the search provider back from Bing to Google, it doesn’t allow them.

Microsoft confirmed on Tuesday that it is looking into an issue in which users of Internet Explorer 6 are forced into having Bing as their default search engine.

But not everybody is complaining about Bing being the forced default search engine. I personally use IE8 but I wanted to test this issue so I called up my friend who is using IE6 and asked him to search for something using IE6 and indeed it redirected him from msn.search.com-->bing. To my surprise, he actually liked the Bing search results and he bookmarked the site.

So kudos (or Kumos ;-)) to microsoft for the nice Bing...
