Promart, a division of Provogue (India), has launched its first store in the country at Law Garden, Ahmedabad. Provogue (India) Ltd will be launching at least 20 more Promart stores in the next three years. Promart is a chain of off-price department stores that will offer around 30-35 per cent discount on the last season’s merchandise of big brands.

Concept of the store is different and new in India. Giving 30-35 per cent discount on the last season’s merchandise of big brands.  So if you think  about it, you will get wide range merchandise in Men, Women's, kids, Home and accessories at discounted price for all the 12 months.

This concept is been there for a while in USA/UK and other countries. You can buy discounted winter clothes as soon as the winter is gone. This way company can get rid of its inventory and people can get good prices on the clothes. The only difference is that next year you might have new fashion and last year clothes are out of fashion. But as far as accessories are concern, you can always buy it in off season and can use it over years (if you take good care of it). 

At PROMART, the company will be selling around 85 per cent apparel and 15 per cent non-apparel merchandise. According to Bipin Gunani, CEO, Promart, the company would be investing roughly Rs 6-7 crore per store.

Pantaloon (who also launched its online retail site www.futurebazaar.com) and West Site might get tough competition now.
