After much hesitation, the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has agreed to initiate measures to create a common do-not-call registry (DNCR) for the banking industry. The registry will help customers who do not wish to receive tele-marketing calls from banks.
Do Not Call Registry is the name of a list of personal phone numbers that are off limits to telemarketers.
Over the last few years, banks have become aggressive in their marketing strategies and make unsolicited calls to push their products, ranging from credit cards to loans. To put a stop to banks’ practice of making unwanted calls, the RBI has asked banks to create DNCR. However, customers find the arrangement cumbersome as they have to register with each bank separately. The IBA initiative would address this problem.
According to RBI Guidelines "Banks should maintain the Do Not Call Registry for customers to avoid unsolicited calls"
Below are the list of banks who currently keep their Do Not Call Registry.
