Being an early adopters have its own pros and cons. iPhone 3G is hit by dropped calls issue. This dropped calls issue is not specific to any country or operator but its worldwide.

Infineon "chipsets" — a group of chips designed to work together — allow the iPhone to jump from one network to another. The handoff is supposed to be seamless. Currently iPhone 3G is compatible only with 2G networks in India. Only select features and services are currently available in India.
Youtube has plenty of videos showing problems in iPhone 3G. The biggest one is reception. Check out this video below which shows how the iPhone 3G has problems with its reception.
