Do Not Buy iPhone 3G - Dropped Calls Issue

So buy now, every one is so excited about iPhone 3G as its half the price and twice fast. iPhone 3G has created quite a hype in mobile industry. iPhone 3G is being launched in India on August 18th by Vodafone and on 22nd August by Airtel.

If you are one of those "early adopters", you might have pre-registered yourself for iPhone to become one of the first ones' to own an iPHone in India. Being an early adopters have its own pros and cons. iPhone 3G is hit by dropped calls issue. This dropped calls issue is not specific to any country or operator but its worldwide.

USA Today reports that dropped calls plague iPhone 3G. 3G iPhone owners are complaining about connection failures and multiple dropped calls in single phone call. According to these sources, AT&T and Apple are working on a software fix. 

Infineon "chipsets" — a group of chips designed to work together — allow the iPhone to jump from one network to another. The handoff is supposed to be seamless. Currently iPhone 3G is compatible only with 2G networks in India. Only select features and services are currently available in India.

Youtube has plenty of videos showing problems in iPhone 3G. The biggest one is reception. Check out this video below which shows how the iPhone 3G has problems with its reception.

I would definitely not buy iPhone 3G right now. Let Apple resolve this issue. If you are in India and planning to buy this high-end phone, I would recommend not to do so now and wait for another few months.
