So the poll results for "Direct to Home television services in India" are here. I started this poll to ask my readers/visitors to vote for their DTH Service provider in India. Top contenders for this poll were DishTV, Tata Sky, BigTV (Which has its pilot running in few cities), Local Service Providers. Those who don't have any service had an option to vote for None.

After running this poll for almost one and a half month, the results are pretty interesting. The winner is Dish TV. Dish TV is Dish Network Satellite provider in India. Dish TV recently announced that they will provide Get Free Set Top Box From Dish TV to its new subscribers in India.

As I expected, the first runner up for this poll is "Local Service Provider". When you talk about DTH services in India, Local Service providers still holds a strong stand against big players like Tata Sky or DishTV or Reliance ADAG's BigTV. People still want to go with their local known person to hook up their TV boxes to get those few hundred channels.

Based on the number of votes, here are some statistics for the poll.

~6% voted for "None - No DTH Service"

~22% voted for Tata Sky

~27% voted for Local Cable Provider

~39% voted for Dish TV

I think Satellite Dish culture is picking up in India but still has exposure to only urbal places specially in metro cities.
