Matrimony has become a big niche in its own. Considering the population of India and the culture of India, Matrimony business is definitely booming. After the success of Shaadi.com, many other portals tried their luck and were successful. With the Web 2.0, things are different though. Users expect more for their money.
Just stumbled upon yet another matrimony site claims to be a "web 2.0 matrimony portal". So what's so special about the "Web 2.0" feature here?
ShaadiFace.com, looks like a fairly new matrimony portal that is trying to compete against the biggies in India. The company is based off of Kolkata. At first, it looks pretty much the same boiler plate stuff. Search profile, create profile, browse through profiles etc with photos, description etc.
This is what I found different about ShaadiFace.. the video profiles. Users/members can upload their videos to their profile which gives better experience to the prospective grooms and brides. The only downside is that video upload feature is not available to the free members. You have to be at least "Silver" member to be able to upload your video to your profile.
I think allowing free members to upload vidoes can bring more registered members to the site. The site has five different memberships starting from Free to Silver, Gold, Diamond & Platinum. Paid members are allowed to send SMSes, emails and can select different themes in the site. I don't think choosing a site theme for a paid member can be "eye catchy" feature..
What do you think about ShaadiFace.com? Do you think if we need one more matrimony portal?
